If there is one thing you don`t want to miss out on, it is taking on the 24 km long biking route from Sletterust at 1100masl and all the way down to Øvre Årdal at around 10masl. The road was originally built in connection to the development of hydro power in the early 1900s, and is a historical landmark showcasing engineering at its best. Now, the road is closed for cars, so you can safely cycle it in stead. If you start at Sletterust, the first 12 km to the viewpoint at a 1000masl, is pretty flat, but with views one can only dream of. From the viewpoint you have 12 km of downhill hairpin turns ahead of you, and it is a treat!

From Hjelle, you'll enjoy an easy 5 km ride along the gravel road into the heart of Utladalen to the historic farm Vetti Gard. Here, you'll lock your bike before continuing on foot along the scenic trail to Vettisfossen, one of Norway's tallest and most impressive waterfalls.

After experiencing the waterfall, you'll be glad your bike is waiting for you at Vetti Gard. The ride back through the valley is a relaxing and enjoyable way to end your adventure, allowing you to cover the distance quickly while taking in the magnificent scenery once more.
